The manufacturing facility was established in 1903 in Eisenberg (southwestern Germany), at the foot of an open pit of Eisenberger Klebsand – Luting sand which contains caolin, important component of refractory material. The pit earned the title of “the biggest of Europe” counting 150 millions of tons of material and 150 employees. Internal Research and Development department guarantees that the products satisfy the customer and its highest requests of materials and final products. To this constant development we can attribute new product lines like self-flowing castables and the implementation of non-polluting production technologies. EKW product portfolio is also complemented by a steadily growing number of other modern “High-Tech” products. EKW Italia, (former EKW Italiana) was set up on January 27, 1967 with the aim of consolidating and increasing the presence of refractory products of its parent company on the Italian market and operates as a distributor of refractory material for cast iron, steel , copper, aluminum and precious material foundries, steel plants and rolling plants. Besides the material, EKW Italia supplies to customers all the services related to design and installation.
